These no-bake Oreo truffles are dipped in black chocolate and decorated to look like adorable black cats. Made with just three ingredients, they are the perfect easy Halloween treat that disappears fast at any party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard 14.3-ounce package Oreo cookies (regular, not Double Stuf or Thins)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 12 ounces black candy melts or white chocolate melting wafers + oil-based black food coloring
  • Black sprinkles or black sanding sugar (optional, for decoration)
  • Mini chocolate chips or candy eyes (for the faces)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the entire package of Oreos (filling and all) into a food processor. Pulse until they turn into a fine, dark crumb that looks like black sand. No big chunks allowed.
  2. Beat the cream cheese: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer on medium speed until completely smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl once or twice.
  3. Combine: Add the crushed Oreo crumbs to the bowl with the cream cheese. Mix on low speed until fully combined. The mixture should look like a thick, dark, slightly sticky dough that holds together when pressed. If too dry, add a teaspoon of milk; if too sticky, add a few more crushed Oreos.
  4. Chill the mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 1 hour). This makes it easier to roll.
  5. Roll the truffles: Using a small cookie scoop or your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. You should get about 24 truffles. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. If the mixture gets sticky, return it to the fridge for 5 minutes.
  6. Melt the chocolate: Place black candy melts or white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until completely smooth. If using white chocolate, add oil-based black food coloring a drop at a time until desired shade is reached.
  7. Dip the truffles: Using a fork, gently lower one truffle ball into the melted chocolate. Spoon chocolate over the top to fully coat. Lift the truffle out and gently tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to let excess chocolate drip off.
  8. Set and decorate: Carefully slide the coated truffle onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, press two mini chocolate chips into the top for ears and two for eyes. Optionally add a tiny dot of melted chocolate for a nose. Repeat with remaining truffles.
  9. Let them set: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm and set.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature cream cheese. Chill the truffle mixture for at least 30 minutes before rolling. If chocolate thickens while dipping, add a teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening. These truffles taste even better the next day. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
