A fun and easy Halloween dessert featuring creamy chocolate pudding layered with Oreo cookie crumbs as ‘dirt’ and mini marshmallow ghosts for a spooky touch. Perfect for parties and nostalgic family moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (or homemade pudding)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) cold milk (whole or 2%)
  • About 15 Oreo cookies (or chocolate sandwich cookies)
  • 1 cup (50 g) mini white marshmallows
  • Small amount of chocolate chips or edible eyes for ghost faces
  • Optional: edible glitter or Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix with 2 cups (480 ml) of cold milk. Whisk for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens and is smooth. Set aside for 5 minutes to fully set.
  2. Place about 15 Oreo cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin until the crumbs resemble moist dirt, with a mix of fine crumbs and small chunks. Alternatively, pulse briefly in a food processor.
  3. Take mini marshmallows and use a toothpick dipped in melted chocolate chips to dot two eyes on each marshmallow. Set aside on parchment paper to let the chocolate set.
  4. Spoon a layer of chocolate pudding into each serving cup — about 1/3 full (roughly 1/4 cup or 60 ml). Add a layer of Oreo dirt (about 2 tablespoons) on top, gently pressing down.
  5. Add another layer of pudding (about 1/3 cup or 80 ml), then top with a generous sprinkle of Oreo dirt to create your graveyard ‘soil.’
  6. Carefully press one or two marshmallow ghosts onto the top layer of Oreo dirt in each cup.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle edible glitter or Halloween sprinkles for a magical eerie glow.
  8. Refrigerate the cups for at least 30 minutes before serving so everything sets nicely.

Notes

Do not over-crush the Oreos to maintain texture. Chill pudding fully before assembling to keep layers distinct. Use mini marshmallows for better ghost shapes. Melt chocolate chips slowly to avoid burning. Prepare pudding and Oreo dirt ahead and assemble just before serving to keep Oreo dirt crispy.
