This homemade pumpkin cream cold foam coffee is rich without being heavy, sweet without being cloying, and takes less than five minutes to throw together. It’s the perfect fall morning ritual that tastes like a coffee shop drink for a fraction of the price.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold brew or strong coffee
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a jar, frother cup, or French press, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and a pinch of salt. Stir to incorporate the pumpkin puree.
  2. Froth the mixture: If using a jar, shake vigorously for about 60 seconds until doubled in volume and thick. If using a handheld frother, froth for 30-45 seconds. If using a French press, pump the plunger for about 30 seconds. The foam is ready when it leaves a visible trail when a spoon is dragged through it.
  3. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour the cold brew or strong coffee over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  4. Pour the cold foam over the back of a spoon held just above the coffee surface to create a layered effect.
  5. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon on top. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use cold ingredients straight from the fridge for best foam. Don’t overdo the pumpkin puree—1 tablespoon is the sweet spot. Shake or froth right before serving as cold foam doesn’t hold. If foam isn’t thickening, check that you’re using heavy cream (not half-and-half) and that it’s cold. For dairy-free, use full-fat coconut cream and oat milk. For sugar-free, replace maple syrup with monk fruit or stevia syrup.
