A simple no-bake recipe combining dark chocolate and almond butter into chewy, flavorful protein balls with just five ingredients. Perfect for a quick, wholesome snack on the go.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz dark chocolate chips (at least 60% cocoa)
  • 1 cup creamy unsweetened almond butter
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring between each until smooth (about 1 to 1.5 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine almond butter and honey (or maple syrup) and stir until smooth and creamy, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate into the almond butter mixture and stir thoroughly until glossy and slightly thick.
  4. Add rolled oats and sea salt, stirring gently until all oats are coated and the mixture is sticky but manageable. Add more oats if too loose.
  5. Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons (roughly 20 g) of mixture and roll into balls with your hands. Place on a lined baking sheet or plate. Makes about 15 balls.
  6. Chill the balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  7. Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

Use maple syrup instead of honey for a vegan version. Almond butter can be swapped with peanut butter or sunflower seed butter for nut-free options. Pulse oats in a food processor for finer texture if desired. Wet hands before rolling to prevent sticking. Chill is essential to firm the balls. Adjust sweetness or texture by adding more sweetener or oats as needed.
