A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent dough to resemble mummies, served with a sweet-tangy honey mustard dip. Perfect for kids’ parties and quick gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular-sized beef or pork hot dogs
  • 1 package (8 oz or about 226 g) refrigerated crescent dough sheets
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey mustard sauce
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for egg wash)
  • Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for mummy eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangular segments. Slice each triangle into thin strips about 1/4 inch (6 mm) wide.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips diagonally, leaving small gaps to create a mummy effect. Optionally, place two strips side by side for thicker bandages.
  4. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet with space between each. Press two black sesame or poppy seeds near the top for eyes if desired.
  5. Brush the dough with egg wash for a golden, glossy finish (optional).
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes until dough is puffed and golden brown with crispy edges. Monitor closely to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and transfer to a cooling rack. Let cool for 5 minutes to crisp up.
  8. Serve warm with honey mustard on the side.

Notes

Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup. If dough is sticky, dust hands and surface with flour. Wrap dough loosely to allow expansion and crispiness. Rotate baking sheet halfway through baking for even browning. Egg wash gives best golden color but milk or melted butter can be used as alternatives. Let cool on a rack before serving to maintain crispiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes to restore crispiness.
