A thick, creamy, and scoopable smoothie bowl that tastes like a milkshake but is packed with protein and healthy fats. Ready in just five minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large frozen banana (ripe, peeled, sliced, and frozen solid)
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (natural, no added sugar or oil)
  • 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder (about 30 grams)
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice (unsweetened almond milk, oat milk, or dairy milk)
  • Pinch of salt (optional, but recommended)
  • Optional add-ins: 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flaxseed meal, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, handful of spinach

Instructions

  1. Prep your banana: If not already frozen, peel a ripe banana, slice into 1-inch rounds, and freeze on a parchment-lined baking sheet for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Add liquid first: Pour 1/4 cup milk into the blender.
  3. Add peanut butter and protein powder: Spoon in peanut butter and scoop in protein powder on top of the liquid.
  4. Add frozen banana and salt: Drop in frozen banana slices and a pinch of salt. Add any optional add-ins now.
  5. Blend on low, then high: Start on low speed to break up banana, then increase to high. Use a tamper to push ingredients down. Blend for 1-2 minutes until thick and scoopable like soft-serve ice cream. Scrape down sides as needed.
  6. Scoop and serve: Use a spatula to transfer mixture to a bowl. It should hold its shape.
  7. Add toppings: Drizzle with extra peanut butter, sprinkle granola, sliced banana, dark chocolate chips, or any desired toppings.
  8. Eat immediately: Smoothie bowls do not sit well; enjoy right away with a spoon.

Notes

For extra thickness, use a very ripe frozen banana and start with less liquid. Do not over-blend to avoid warming the mixture. If too thin, add ice cubes or more frozen banana. If too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time. Prep toppings before blending to prevent melting.
