These boozy orange cream jello shots are a party favorite, made with just orange soda, vanilla vodka, and gelatin. They taste like a grown-up creamsicle and are ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup orange soda (like Fanta or Sunkist)
  • 1 packet (0.25 oz) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup vanilla vodka
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • Optional: Orange food coloring (1-2 drops)
  • Optional: Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin: Pour the 1/2 cup cold water into a small bowl. Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin evenly over the surface. Let it sit for 5 minutes without stirring.
  2. Heat the soda: Pour the 1 cup orange soda into a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat until steaming but not boiling (around 160°F). Stir gently once or twice.
  3. Combine the gelatin and soda: Remove the saucepan from heat. Pour the bloomed gelatin into the warm soda. Whisk gently until the gelatin is fully dissolved, about 1 minute.
  4. Add the vodka: Pour in the 1/2 cup vanilla vodka. Whisk gently to combine. If using food coloring, add 1-2 drops now and stir.
  5. Fill the shot cups: Arrange shot cups on a baking sheet. Pour the mixture into a liquid measuring cup with a spout. Fill each cup about 3/4 full.
  6. Refrigerate: Carefully transfer the tray to the refrigerator. Let set for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  7. Serve: Pop on lids if transporting. Arrange on a platter and add a dollop of whipped cream on each just before serving.

Notes

Temperature is key: heat soda to around 160°F. Whisk gently to avoid air bubbles. Leave room at the top of cups to prevent spills. Make the night before for best results. Can be stored in fridge for up to 5 days.
